Wordless book-My Children's faith

My children are leading me. The sincerity and the simplicity of children is jaw dropping sometimes. As parents we teach our children things out of God's word then are kind of shocked when they actually take it in faith and apply it to their lives.
I am very grateful for the fact that I was raised going to church and hearing God's word since I was a tot. I am extremely grateful that my children are enjoying the same privilege and I don't take it for granted. But there is a danger having PK's (Preacher's Kids) and that is that they will become very head smart and have no heart and works behind their faith. I would bang my head until it fell off if I raised my children that way!

I had a 12 year old prayer that was answered on September 17th at the Oklahoma State Fair. I have prayed and prayed that I would see the Holy Spirit rise up in their lives and see them speak the word boldly. Well we had a golden opportunity for the children to apply what we have been learning during family devotions over the years about being a witness. Child Evangelism Fellowship rents space at the fair every year and does a presentation called the wordless book for anyone that will stop by the tent. The Wordless Book is a method of presenting the best story ever told (the Gospel of Jesus Christ) through blank colored pages . To see 0ur two oldest boys look into the eyes of people 3 and 4 times their age and tell the story of the Good news confidently sent chills down my spine. You should of seen the smiles on their faces...they got bit by the witnessing bug and didn't want to stop.
A few days later we were in Quiznos and my son comes up to me and says, "I think I am suppose to share the Wordless Book with that couple over there, will you go with me?"(He carries it in his back pocket wherever he goes now). Now this is a public eating establishment and a couple that is in their 50's or 60's. Do little boys think of things like that on their own? I don't think so. That is a witness of the Holy Spirit operating in a child. My first thought was son are you serious?...then my next thought was why not? He shared with them; however, they were already believers but are now they were encouraged believers.
Listening and yielding to the Holy Spirit for direction on who we share the simple good news of Jesus Christ with is paramount. My children appear to get it. In Acts 1:8 it is clear that God transforms our lives to be living witnesses for him. Children will take it to heart and act upon it; often adults will intellectualize it and declare it as just a good concept. Oh for the faith of a child!!

Three girls under the age of 18 were at the Fair on the following day that my sons and I volunteered. One of the girls sent there mom a text that said, "I just got saved." What a blessing! Little did they know that the next day all three of them would be in a head on collision with an SUV that would take their lives; you can watch the news report here. A woman volunteer shared the message of the gospel with those girls hours before their death. This is giving their families peace today. Tommorow is not promised, tell somebody today the greatest story ever told.

My children are leading me. They are walking pages of the Bible that their daddy is reading and being reminded to stay humble and submit to the Holy Spirit's direction in my life. Just an excited dad right now..I will tell more stories later...like about our neighbor and the chocolate cake. Stay encouraged

  1. How awesome it is when children lead! This really encouraged me as my children and I have been practicing using the Wordless Book. Now I need to pray for divine appointments and the willingness to do the follow-through.
